CoreKids will focus on helping young people aged four to 16 address trauma through the use of psychotherapy, paediatric acupuncture and art therapy.
The project came about as a response to the Department of Health's Hidden Harm report on the effects of parental drug and alcohol abuse on young people (YPN, 23-29 March, p4).
Westminster Young People's Drug and Alcohol Team has provided 32,000 to run the project for a year. Rebecca Varrall, administration assistant for the Core Trust, said: "CoreKids aims to bridge the gap between adults and children." She added: "Many adults feel extreme shame and guilt over what their children have been through."
