Sport: London Youth starts rowing programme

The scheme aims to introduce the sport to 12- to 18-year-olds who would not normally have access to such facilities. London Youth Rowing will run three week-long camps during July and August and offer dry land training in youth clubs and schools in east London. The initiative will be extended to other areas of London.

Richard Sermon, chairman of London Youth, said: "We hope this initiative, which includes free transportation and coaching, will inspire hundreds of young people to try rowing."
