Greet Children's Centre in the Sparkhill area of the city is using the Toy Cupboard Plus software package for its volunteer-managed library.
The package was developed over five years by working closely with toy libraries across the UK. It is being sold by the firm Toy-Cupboard, which has dedicated a support team solely to the product.
Greet Children's Centre bought the software after securing money from Birmingham City Council to set up a toy library. The library is based at the children's centre but operates a mobile service as well.
The centre's manager Kate Field said the £1,900 tailor-made package from Toy-Cupboard includes Bluetooth scanners, so library workers can register loans and returns outside the centre without having to carry laptops.
