The projects will benefit from the 15m three-year funding originally set aside by the Government in February 2003. National sports charity the Football Foundation has pledged to pump in a further 3m.
The strategy will target young people aged 10 to 19 and will see projects kick off in areas including Camden, Colchester, north Liverpool, Sheffield, south Tyneside, Great Yarmouth and Swindon.
