Mission: To train young people at Positive Futures projects, on five selected schemes, to be peer mentors
Funding: £30,000 from the Home Office - £6,000 for each scheme.
Social inclusion programme Positive Futures is running five pilot peer-mentoring programmes for projects aimed at re-engaging socially excluded young people. Those specifically targeted to become peer mentors include young people from at risk groups, as well as ethnic minorities and young women.
Each programme is based at a Positive Futures project and helps develop young people as peer mentors. The aim is to improve the quality of Positive Futures sessions by directly involving young people in the delivery and decision-making process, as well as developing the peer mentors' skills.
