The Home Office announced Crime Concern's appointment last week. "Given the support behind the 2012 Games, we want to work very closely with the business sector," said Crime Concern chief executive Roger Howard.
Crime Concern was selected following a process of competitive tendering.
Home Office minister Paul Goggins said: "We thought it would be better if it was run by a voluntary organisation outside the Home Office." The activity-based early intervention programme is currently managed by the Home Office's Drug Strategy Directorate along with Sport England and delivered through 108 local projects.
The Government is also keen for Positive Futures to be seen as a Home Office programme.
