14.1% of looked-after children had three or more placements during 2004/05 (10.5 per cent in Wales)

- 33.3% of 16-year-olds left care with at least one GCSE at grade A*-Gor a GNVQ in 2004/05 (42.1 per cent in Wales)

- 100% of children on the child protection register had their casesreviewed on time in 2004/05 (81 per cent in Wales)

- 410 per week gross weekly expenditure on children in fostercare in 2004/05 (344 per week in Wales)

The last inspection of Powys' child protection services by the SocialServices Inspectorate for Wales said the initial response to childprotection referrals was generally "prompt, efficient and effective".Inspectors found that all children on the child protection register hadan allocated social worker and that child protection case conferenceswere well managed.
