Social Care News: Social care stats - Slough

6% of looked-after children with three or more placements during 2003/04 (13 per cent in England)

- 84% of looked-after children placed for adoption or in foster care at31 March 2004 (81 per cent in England)

- 477 average gross weekly spend per looked-after child in fostercare in 2003/04 (349 in England)

- 2,243 average gross weekly spend per looked-after child in achildren's home in 2003/04 (2,048 in England)

In 2004 the Commission for Social Care Inspection said that SloughBorough Council was serving some children well and rated its capacityfor improving children's services as promising.

It achieved two stars overall, an improvement from a one-star rating in2003.
