Social Care news: Social care stats - Camden

92 per 10,000 children under 18 looked after at 31 March 2003 (55 in England)

34% of looked-after children were under 10 (41 per cent in England)

4% of looked-after children were placed for adoption (6 per cent in England)

11% of looked-after children had three or more placements in a year (15 per cent in England)

A Camden Council spokeswoman said: "As Camden is an inner London borough a better comparison is with inner London statistics. Camden offers a range of excellent multi-agency services, including family group conferences, which aim to prevent children from entering the care system. Our priority is to find effective ways for developing this work further with teenagers and their families. We are improving placement stability by increasing choice."
