Social Care News: Regulation - Complaints rules finally published

The Department for Education and Skills has published the long-awaited guidance to accompany new complaints procedures for children's social care.

The regulations become law on 1 September. Their publication comes twoweeks after Andrew Webb, co-chair of the Association of Directors ofSocial Services' children and families committee, warned: "The bigproblem is gearing up to deliver the regulations when the August holidayis next month and the guidance isn't out yet," (Children Now, 19-25July).

The guidance document replaces the version contained in volumes threeand four of the Children Act 1989 guidance and regulations on familyplacements and residential care.
