Social Care News: Asylum - Guidance given for lone children grant

The Department for Education and Skills has published new guidance on a grant for councils receiving unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

The grant is intended to help councils meet the leaving care costs ofsupporting unaccompanied asylum-seeking children.

The guidance sets out the arrangements for paying the UnaccompaniedAsylum Seeking Children Leaving Care Costs Grant for 2005/06. The totalvalue of the grant is 11m.

And it also includes details about which unaccompanied asylum-seekingchildren leaving care will be eligible to receive payments.
