As Children Now went to press, a Home Office spokesman said theconsultation was due in early May. The consultation is expected toinclude plans to set up a dispersal system for unaccompaniedasylum-seeking children, concentrating them in 10 local authority areasof the UK.
It is designed to relieve pressure on local authorities in the SouthEast that have high numbers of asylum children. But campaigners say theyare concerned cost cutting is the main priority.
