The call was made in its response to the Home Office's consultationPlanning Better Outcomes and Support for Unaccompanied Asylum SeekingChildren, which ended last week.
Lisa Nandy, policy adviser for refugee and asylum-seeking children atconsortium member The Children's Society, said: "Some of the proposalsmade in the Home Office's blueprint for dealing with child asylumseekers are deeply harmful and damaging. The only way to protect thesechildren is for Government to provide independent guardians to allunaccompanied asylum-seeking children to protect their interests andensure their safety."
