Social Care News: Education - City councillors to be pushy parents

Councillors at Westminster City Council are taking on the role of "pushy parents" for looked-after children to help improve their education.

So far eight councillors have signed up to the scheme, but thecouncillors will not have direct contact with the child they aremonitoring.

Instead, they will receive a monthly report from the child's socialworker, containing information such as attendance at school andgrades.

If they are unhappy with the child's progress, the councillor will makerecommendations to the social worker or school.
