Councillors get reminder of duties

1 min read Social Care
The Fostering Network is launching a campaign to remind local councillors of their obligations to looked-after children.

The Do You Know Who Your Children Are? campaign will see the charity send out postcards to councillors across England, Scotland and Wales. The cards will remind them that they are legally responsible for the well-being and development of children in care, regardless of whether they are directly involved in children's services in their area.

The charity hopes the campaign will make councillors realise they should want the same opportunities for children in care as they want for their own children. It also hopes to remind councils of the need to work more effectively to support looked-after children's development and deal with the issues that affect them.
