Plymouth has made astounding improvements in providing suitable accommodation for its care leavers.

2004 Plymouth 22.5% England average 79.6%

2005 Plymouth 82.6% England average 83.9%

2006 Plymouth 81.8% England average 87.9%

2007 Plymouth 83.3% England average 87.3%

2008 Plymouth 88.9% England average 88.4%

Plymouth has made astounding improvements in providing suitable accommodation for its care leavers. In 2004, the authority was at the bottom of the table of councils in England, with only 22.5 per cent of 19-year-old care leavers living in adequate housing. But a strategic focus saw this figure leap to 88.9 per cent last year.
