Scotland: Manifesto calls for end to benefit trap

Better lives for Scotland's children and young people identifies young people not in education, employment or training (NEET) as one of eight priority themes, highlighting the need to tackle the "benefits trap" preventing 16- and 17-year-olds entering employment.

Other goals in the manifesto, the result of consultation with more than 400 children and young people's organisations across Scotland, include a parenting strategy and a clearer policy on play.

It has been produced in the run-up to next year's Scottish elections in an attempt to try to influence the manifestos of political parties.
