At a meeting of the Scottish National Play Forum, members agreed to getthe ball rolling by lobbying politicians leading up to ScottishParliament elections in 2007. "What we want to try and do is lobby everypolitical party to make a commitment for play in their manifestos," saidPlay Scotland's chair, Margaret Westwood.
Meanwhile, Play Scotland has welcomed the Big Lottery Fund's Investingin our Communities manifesto, which sets out how 275m will bespent, despite the fact it does not feature a distinct play fund.
Westwood admitted a play fund would provide more certainty, but added:"This is a huge opportunity for play to get smart about how it appliesfor funding whether as a community of play nationally or as localcommunities."
