Scotland: YouthLink creates youth manifesto

YouthLink Scotland is stepping up its efforts to secure a Youth Work Act in Scotland by producing a manifesto for young people, which it will distribute at party conferences in the run-up to next year's Scottish elections.

As well as asking politicians to consider introducing the Act, Youth Work in the 21st Century: A Manifesto for Scotland's Young People demands a minimum entitlement to youth work activities and facilities for every young person in Scotland. It also asks for youth work to be built into the planning of local authority children's services.

The organisation has been gathering responses to the consultation on the Scottish Executive's draft youth work strategy, which ends on 1 November.
