Goals: To break down cultural barriers between young people through engagement with food

While love of junk food has proved to be one of the biggest cultural equalisers among young people, one Welsh youth project has been using the cuisine of different cultures to help heal racial and cultural divisions.
The project, called the Kitchens of Cardiff (or KoFC), was launched in May by workers at youth charity Fairbridge Cymru.
About 12 socially excluded young people aged 13 to 25, who were not in education, employment or training, came together on the project to learn about difference and cultural identities through food. As part of the project they visited restaurants and cafes from different communities, and learned to cook various dishes from different countries.
