Resources: Project notes - Access Rock

1 min read

Goals: An ongoing project providing learning opportunities and progression routes for young people interested in music

Funding: An average of 3,000 a year from the 15,000 Hull receives from the Humber Region Youth Music Action Zone (Music4U)

Guitar-based rock and indie music is big among young people in the Hull area and one youth project has been using it as a hook to give young people the chance to make the most of being in a band.

The Access Rock project was first launched in 2004 as a joint initiative by Hull Youth Service and the arts development department, and is aimed at young people aged 13 and over. The project is based in Kingston Youth Centre in Hull, which offers a recording studio staffed by a music-trained youth worker.
