Environmental charity BTCV has been using taster sessions to encourage young people to get into volunteering.

The Tasty Programme, which ran from October 2006 until March 2007, worked with about 2,000 young people who got involved in around 500 different environmental activities, for a day or longer. The programme has since been extended for another six months to reach a further 1,000 young people.

Activities included litter clearance days, tree planting, drystone walling, hedge-laying, fencing and creating wildlife habitats.
