What will it support? Projects that increase people's confidence to get involved in political decision-making, increase their awareness of how democracy is organised in the UK and Europe, and in particular increase the number of people registering to vote. Target groups are young people not in formal education, minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities. As an example, last year the Area 43 youth project in Cardigan was awarded 146, 993 over three years to train 36 young people from across south west Wales as peer educators with young people outside formal education. One-to-one sessions, workshops and awareness-raising activities are being run from a base in Cardigan and throughout the region using a mobile unit. Who can apply? Charitable voluntary and community sector organisations and public sector bodies doing work they do not have to provide by law.
