What does it support? It has six programmes focusing on disadvantage and a seventh called Aspiration for cultural, environmental, heritage and sporting charities. Most youth organisations get funding under the Prevention programme, priorities for which include youth disengagement, teenage pregnancy, substance abuse and inadequate facilities for local groups. But your project might also fit in under one of the programmes such as Exploration, which helps groups to try out new ideas for tackling social problems. Among recent grants are 30,000 towards a new home for Longbenton Youth Project, 44,208 to fund a new youth worker post at Scotswood Area Strategy and 60,000 for a new advice and information project at Blythe Centre for Young People. Core and project funding is available.
