What will it fund? There are national and regional programmes that operate within the two key themes of money advice and financial literacy and "developing and improving local communities". Within this latter category, social inclusion and lifelong learning are mentioned as particular areas that can attract grants. Examples of larger national grants include Centrepoint, which has been granted 280,000 over three years to run a rent deposit scheme for young people in housing need to overcome a common barrier to private sector renting. The regional scheme supports a diverse range of projects and operates across the whole of the UK.
Who can apply? Properly constituted voluntary organisations. They do not need to be registered charities but the purpose for which they are seeking funding must be charitable. Animal welfare, sponsorship of fundraising events, medical research and overseas projects or trips are all specifically excluded from funding.
