Resources: Funding focus - Mental Health Matters

1 min read

What will it fund? If the individuals have an existing serious mental health problem, then it will only fund projects that offer a range of packages that aid their recovery and reintegration into the community. Programmes should help them manage their condition, enhance their confidence and skills and promote their participation in local life. Other projects that can be supported are those that provide targeted awareness raising, advice and outreach support to groups that are known to have higher incidence of mental health problems, including minority ethnic groups, homeless people, drug users, former offenders and refugees and asylum seekers. Also eligible are projects that target people with significantly higher risk of suicide - including young men and those who self-harm - with culturally sensitive advice on sources of help and support, and those that address the stigma and misinformation about suicide in the community. Grants are mainly for revenue funding to support operations, with up to five per cent being usable for small capital purchases.
