What will it support? Young people are encouraged to think about the facilities that are available in their communities - including parks, youth clubs and schools - and to come up with ideas to address what they think is missing or that could be done better. The ideas given range from creating a mural to beautify a local area in need of improvement to setting up a licensed radio station, a peer support bullying project, a recycling scheme or a football tournament. Success stories from previous years include Mongrel UK, a drama group in North East England made up of young refugees from all over the world who made a film to celebrate and raise awareness of their cultures and the benefits of mixing with people from different backgrounds. Another example is Hit the Decks, a project that that was able to take a DJ skills project - with a healthy living message - on tour around community venues in the isolated villages of rural Aberdeenshire.
