Resources: Funding focus - Here to help

1 min read

What will it fund? Proposals can be for virtually anything, but must fall within one of the following areas: improving health support and advice for children and young people - including sexual and mental health and drug and alcohol abuse; improving play and leisure opportunities - especially those that develop skills and give young people a voice in their community; and improving safety though provision of safe places to meet or by tackling bullying, racism and isolation. The key terms that describe successful projects will be "youthful, original, dynamic and lasting".

Who will it fund? Children and young people up to the age of 18 linked to an adult-led group or organisation, or any organisation that works with young people or wants to involve them in its work. Organisations that have a statutory duty to provide facilities or set up projects can apply, but the scheme will only fund projects that are not already covered by other sources of funding. Projects must be located in one of 104 local authority areas within England, Scotland and Wales. Further details of qualifying areas can be found on the web site www.helpyourselves.org.uk.
