My job is to try to give young Gypsies and Travellers a way of saying what it's like to be them in the 21st century. The aim is to get two members of the youth parliament from these groups. It's also about helping the young people make the current members more aware of their needs.
What does it involve? I've been going round the local authorities to create a database of people working with these groups.
I had a conference to share best practice, and also have a residential weekend for young Gypsies and Travellers planned later this month, to serve as a focus group. I plan to establish a representative group of young Gypsies and Travellers to support their peers and act as a voice for them. That group can liaise with members of the youth parliament.
