Goals: To enable young offenders to use their experiences to influence and educate their peers about the dangers of excessive drinking and alcohol-related violence
Funding: The project is funded with about 15,000 from the Liverpool Culture Company through its Creative Communities Programme
A group of young offenders has been creating radio adverts to warn its peers of the dangers of drinking and alcohol-related aggression. Fifteen 14- to 18-year-olds were referred to the project by Liverpool Youth Offending Team and Merseyside Youth Agency's individual action project.
The project, which started in June and runs until December, is funded by the Creative Communities Programme, part of the Liverpool Culture Company. It is being run by Ariel Trust in Liverpool, which provides training courses to raise interest in radio broadcasting in the northwest of England.
