The purpose of ContactPoint is to support practitioners, local authorities and other organisations in fulfilling statutory duties relating to children. It will be a quick way for a practitioner to find out who else is working with the same young person. This consultation offers draft guidance for its use.

Guy Herbert, general secretary at campaign group NO2ID, says: "We are outraged and opposed to ContactPoint. It's a repackage of the children's Information Sharing Index and is a destruction of confidentiality. We don't think it can add to the benefits of young people and is in fact dangerous."
