The purpose of ContactPoint is to help practitioners, local authoritiesand other organisations fulfil various statutory duties concerningchildren. The database will enable practitioners to quickly find out whoelse is working with a child, facilitating more co-ordinated work.
The draft guidance aims to ensure - in accordance with the Children Act2004 - the appropriate use and operation of the database. It is aimed atall those who will have access to ContactPoint as well as managers, thebodies supplying data and partner organisations.
The consultation asks for views on issues such as ensuring accuracy,unauthorised use and people's rights to see information held aboutthem.
