This consultation aims to gather views on the Early Years Outcomes Duty,which will require local authorities to improve outcomes for all youngchildren in their areas, and reduce inequalities, through the provisionof accessible and integrated early childhood services. Primary caretrusts, strategic health authorities and Jobcentre Plus will be underreciprocal duties to work with local authorities.
The draft statutory guidance outlines what local authorities and theirpartners should do to fulfil their duties, as set out in the ChildcareAct. This consultation will feed into the final statutory guidance,which is set to be published in the autumn.
The duty comes into force on 1 April 2008.
