Places to Go: Suffolk

1 min read Youth Work
From Felixstowe in the south of the county to Lowestoft in the north, Suffolk offers a host of things to do and places to visit for youth groups.

The area has more than 50 nature reserves managed by the Wildlife Trust where visitors can see birds, such as the grasshopper warbler, in their natural habitat.

In the west of the county sits the famous horseracing course Newmarket where young people can experience a day at the races. Located nearby is the National Horseracing Museum, which tells the story of the sport from its royal origins to the modern day.

Groups wanting to delve even further into the region's rich history can head to Clare Castle Country Park. The park contains the remains of the 13th-century stone castle set upon a 70ft-motte overlooking the town of Clare. A nature trail around the castle takes in the River Stour among other sights.
