Places to go - The Yorkshire Dales

1 min read Youth Work
The Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate are home to the Yorkshire Dales National Park and Nidderdale, one of England's areas of outstanding natural beauty.

For youth groups feeling energetic, there are hundreds of miles to explore on foot, bike or horseback. The Dales are crisscrossed by hundreds of quiet country lanes, perfect for on-road cycle rides of different lengths and difficulties.

For the adventurous, Yorkshire Dales Guides offer introductory courses in caving, climbing (including waterfall climbs) and abseiling for youth groups.

The market town of Skipton boasts a spectacular medieval castle, which is host to plays and art exhibitions throughout the year. Just east of Skipton stands Bolton Abbey, where visitors can try their hand at fishing in the River Wharfe.

How to get there

By train: Leeds, York, Darlington and Lancaster/Oxenholme are served by express train services from all parts of the UK. Frequent trains from Leeds and Bradford go into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales.
