Places to Go: Newcastle

1 min read Youth Work
Home of the Geordies, this is a place brimming with character and northern soul. It's small enough to reach the best bits on foot, so pack some warm clothes and comfortable shoes if visiting in the colder months.

A walk over the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, one of the seven bridges over the River Tyne, offers fantastic views of the city so it's a great place to start.

The Sage Gateshead next to the river is hard to miss when walking round the city. The huge slug-like glass building hosts a variety of gigs, events and workshops for all ages and interests.

The Life Science Centre is a short walk down the river. The interactive museum has regular special events and wacky exhibitions.

And for sports fans, a trip to Newcastle wouldn't be complete without a tour of St James' Park football stadium, the home of Newcastle United and a symbol of Geordie pride and heritage. Tours are available most days, including match days.
