Places to go - Cardiff

1 min read Youth Work
The Welsh capital may not have the historical or cultural kudos of Edinburgh and London but its youthful vibe and sporting and artistic credentials make it a great destination for young people. Cardiff is on course to boast the largest student population of any European city, has been designated a European Centre of Culture and is where cult BBC series Doctor Who is filmed.

The city has gained fame as a sporting venue, thanks largely to the 74,000-seat Millennium Stadium near the city centre. Tours are available when the stadium is not being used for events.

The city is also home to the devolved Welsh Assembly Government, which sits at nearby Cardiff Bay in the iconic Senedd building designed by architect Richard Rogers. For youth groups seeking a more fun outing, the Doctor Who Up-Close Exhibition features monsters, costumes and props from the most recent series of the show, including, of course, the Daleks. The Techniquest science centre near Cardiff Bay also has lots of fun activities for young people too.
