Participation: Sector lands 4m Big Lottery funding to strengthen youth involvement

The consortium, consisting of NCB, the British Youth Council, Carnegie Young People Initiative, Children's Rights Alliance for England, The National Youth Agency and Save the Children England, already delivers a support and information programme under the banner of Participation Works. This includes a web site collating a range of materials on involving young people.

From next month it will provide guidance and support to assist organisations wishing to bid for money from the fund to embed youth participation in their work. One of the conditions of the fund is that bidding organisations demonstrate high levels of youth involvement in their project from start to finish. Many projects that applied to the first Young People's Fund were unsuccessful because they did not manage to show this.
