OPINION: The Ferret ... digs behind the headlines

This is intellectually dishonest. It's the political equivalent of the parent saying to a small child: "We'll see." And then hoping that the child will be distracted into something else.

The word that keeps coming up, and causing elder statespeople to sound pained and undecided, is "maturity". Do young people have the maturity to vote?

Since when has maturity been a necessary requirement for voting? Where are the maturity tests that adults passed to get on the electoral roll?

There aren't any. If there were, you wouldn't get thousands of people voting for parties with names like Monster Raving Loony. Grown-ups elected H'Angus the Monkey as Hartlepool's mayor. Very mature.
