OPINION: If I were in charge of ... My local playground - Daniel Lally, 11, Leeds

1 min read
I'd ban teenagers. They just ruin playgrounds by writing graffiti everywhere and breaking the roundabouts and swings. I'd put up a big fence around the playground and have a warden at the gate. The warden would be really friendly. The playground would be locked at night and the warden would have a torch to check if anyone was trying to sneak in. He'd also have handcuffs in case any teenagers came along. Playgrounds should only be for children up to the age of 12.

I like playgrounds because they stop you getting bored, but I don't go because of the teenagers.

If I was in charge, there'd be a climbing frame, a pond and a fishing lake. I'd have a quiet zone with a memorial where children could go and have a picnic or remember someone they loved.

The swings would be more comfy. They're stiff and you have to hang onto chains. It's not very nice.

I'd also have a dead-man's drop. It's like an aerial swing, but you go straight down before it goes up at the end. It's really scary.

Little children would have their own things, like a seesaw or roundabout. Our roundabout would be a stand-up one, because they go faster and are more fun.
