Opinion: If I were in charge of healthcare - Gayle Campbell, 19

1 min read
Recently Save the Children hosted an event to inform children and young people about health care in third world countries and the reasons why it should and could be made free.

This event was a real eye opener for me and I could not believe some ofthe case studies about how people have to suffer due to not being ableto pay for appropriate care. Personally I feel that this is the mostimportant aspect when raising awareness.

Hilary Benn, secretary of state for international development, came tothis event to participate, answer any questions and, most importantly, listen to the children and young people attending.

If I was a leader, I would ensure all promises made at the G8 summitwere met and ensure appropriate action was in place.

I would make sure children and young people's views are seen, heard andacted upon. I would make sure that the millennium development goals arerealistic and that there was appropriate action taken to achievethem.
