On the Ground: Me & My Youth Worker - 'The group boosted my confidence'

1 min read
Natasha Mortlock, 20, young mum, and Olivia Stapleton, youth development worker, Rutland County Council Youth Service.

- When did you first meet?

Natasha: "It was about four years ago. My boyfriend went to a youth club Olivia used to run and I went along sometimes. But we didn't get to work together until I fell pregnant with my daughter when I was 15."

Olivia: "When Natasha was pregnant, we started to work together through our programme for young mums. She originally came along to a drop-in advice session we hold with Connexions.

- Did Natasha need a lot of support?

Olivia: "Not really. Like lot of young mums, she's really intelligent and didn't need lots of help. We just had to show her there were other young mums in her situation in the area and give her practical parenting advice.
