On the ground: Me & My Youth Worker - 'She helped me settle in the UK'

1 min read Youth Work
Portia Manyemba, 15, and Alison Reynolds, young people's development worker at The Cupboard Project in Leeds.

- How long have you known each other?

Portia: "We first started working together about three years ago. I used to live in Zimbabwe with my parents but we left because of the political problems. When I arrived in Leeds I didn't know anyone so I was keen to make friends quickly.

Alison: "The Cupboard Project runs drop-in sessions at local schools. Portia came to see us one day and we took it from there. She just really wanted to get involved in things locally and meet more people because she was new to the country."

- What types of sessions have you done together?
