Ofsted calls Salford and Bromley poor

Bromley Youth Service, outsourced to Prospects Services in 2003, received criticism including poor attendance by young people, inadequate resourcing and poor management capacity. The service is seeking a new head after the incumbent Dave Silcox went on long-term sick leave.

In a statement, Bromley Council said: "Both the council and Prospects have had problems with staffing since October 2004. Ofsted recognises these issues are being addressed. A 250,000 investment will fully refurbish our five youth centres."

A review of Salford Youth Service will be carried out, along with a 150,000 investment to carry out improvements, said John Warmisham, Salford City Council's lead member for children's services and youth.
