Bromley, which first outsourced its youth service in 1992 and contracted Prospects as sole provider under a 10-year contract in 2003, was criticised by Ofsted last year for providing an "inadequate" youth service. Bromley council said the contract termination was driven by the development of the area's children's trust, which will bring youth services under the children's services umbrella from next month.
A Bromley council spokesman said: "Next month we are moving towards the first phase of a single children's services division that will be headed by an interim children's services director until a permanent one is appointed at the end of the year." Prospects declined to comment.
