Tower Hamlets' eight area-based and three borough-wide subject-based contracts were up for renewal earlier this year (YPN, 12-18 October 2005, p4). The two schools are part of two separate consortia that will join existing provider, Poplar Harca, to take control of the area contracts from 2 January.
Voluntary sector consortium the Docklands Youth Service, set up by voluntary organisations in the Isle of Dogs in conjunction with George Green's Secondary School, will be Tower Hamlets' key delivery partner for youth work in the area. A second consortium, covering four area contracts, will include arts and community facility Oxford House, community and youth centre Davenant Centre and extended school Bishop Challoner Catholic Collegiate School.
