Hackney Council is to give promising sports stars from the borough a 220,000 boost. The Hackney Youth Sports Fund will run until 2012 and supports promising individuals and clubs across the London borough, giving them the help, resources and training needed to achieve their potential. The cash came from an out-of-court settlement from sportswear company Nike for unauthorised use of the borough's logo on its sportswear. www.hackney.gov.uk/ysfund.
