Work Wise: Funding Briefs

- Young people in Hackney are to benefit from a 220,000 youth fund financed by an out of court settlement from Nike, after the sports label used Hackney Council's logo without permission.

- Third sector organisations are to benefit from a £220,000 fund for innovation. Innovation Exchange is intended to support research, development and partnership working. www.cabinetoffice.gov.uk

- Children in Northern Ireland are to benefit from new IT equipment worth £46m. The investment will provide nurseries and primary schools with laptops, computers and video-conferencing equipment.

- Futurebuilders has awarded the Makaton Vocabulary Development Programme £513,000 to expand its services. The charitable trust trains people with learning disabilities in special communication techniques.
