1 min read
At the beginning of June two young people from the Department for Education and Skills Children and Youth Board, which is managed by NCB, went to Brussels to present their experiences of participating in the decision making process at a national level.

The event, Why Involve Us?, was organised by Eurochild AISBL and held atthe European Parliament.

Sixteen children from six countries - Belgium, Cyprus, Germany, Latviaand Portugal as well as England and Wales - were invited to present tomembers of the European Parliament and other European Unionofficials.

Lucy Read, co-ordinator of the Children and Youth Board at NCB, said:"The event was a fantastic opportunity for young people across Europe toshare their experiences. It was inspiring to hear from so many youngpeople, all giving different examples of their involvement in the policymaking process."

One participant, Daniela Mamica, aged 14, commented: "I was so nervousabout presenting at the European Parliament but it was an amazingexperience to hear what other children and young people in differentcountries have to say. The MEPs were really friendly and listened to ourpoints of view."
