NCB Now: Young NCB talk shop with the police

1 min read
Thirteen children and young people gave their views on what the Metropolitan Police's priorities should be over the next five years at a talkshop organised by Young NCB and the Greater London Authority's Children and Young People's Unit on Saturday 7 May.

The group, aged 12 to 19, felt that combating discrimination on the grounds of age, race or gender should be the Metropolitan's key aim. They also identified the need to create opportunities to promote greater understanding between the police and young people, through work experience and joint events, as a key priority.

"If the police listened more and were more friendly then maybe there would be less crime," commented one participant.

Another went on to say: "It's great to have days like this for younger people to have a voice."

A video of the day's activities was produced by The Mouth That Roars, a film production company which works with and trains young people, with the help of two assistants, Gabriella, aged 12 and Ciara, aged 14.
